Experience
David joined the state's largest law firm, Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, in 1985 as an associate, became Participating Associate in 1990, became Partner in 1995, and retired in 2009 after nearly 25 years of service. The focus of his practice has been on litigation including contract litigation, antitrust, securities and energy matters. Prior to joining Fulbright, David worked as a legal assistant with Susman Godfrey and with Kohn, Milstein, Hausfeld & Toll, and as a briefing clerk for Haynes & Fullenweider.
David’s litigation and arbitration experience includes many state and federal cases tried to verdict, as well as arbitration of a substantial number of matters. Since 1995 to the present, David has been Board Certified as a Civil Trial Law specialist by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
In the first ten years of his law practice, David focused on personal injury trial law, trying many personal injury jury cases to verdict. He earned Board Certification in Personal Injury Trial Law in 1995 which certification he maintained until he withdrew from that area of specialization in 2005.

- Counsel for plaintiff medical device manufacturer suing competing medical device manufacturer for attempted monopolization
- Counsel for cardiac pacemaker manufacturer in arbitration with inventor over rights arising out of patent licensing agreements
- Counsel for large multi-branch credit union in business tort litigation involving acquisition of mortgage banking business
- Counsel for international truck manufacturer in alleged securities fraud suit arising from $1.4 billion tender offer
- Counsel for interstate pipeline company in multi-million dollar contract interpretation case arising out of a purchase and sale agreement
- Counsel for regional natural gas company in balancing agreement litigation
- Counsel for large international oil field services company in litigation surrounding the taking of branch employees across Texas
- Counsel for national gas pipeline company in litigation involving several hundred million dollar purchase of several salt dome natural gas storage facilities
- Counsel for large seismic data acquisition company in company-wide equipment lease litigation
- Counsel for citizen accused of felony fraud in U.S. HUD subsidized housing case
- Counsel for many family law clients in contested child custody, CPS and divorce cases
- Counsel for many pro bono clients including state prisoners, Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program clients, and other indigent clients

While in law school, David served as Editor-in-Chief of the Houston Law Review. He has been licensed to practice law by the Texas Supreme Court since 1985 and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas.
